FEATURED PROJECTS

Molasses Extract Plant

LESAFFRE GROUP

The first of its kind in Australia, the molasses extract plant has the dual benefit of collecting the nutrient-rich derivatives produced through yeast production, which can then be used as food-grade mineral fertiliser for industrial agriculture, as well as significantly reducing the colour and viscosity of the water that is discharged to Melbourne's Eastern Treatment Plant.

West Pine supported the stakeholder engagement, design and delivery of this major capital infrastructure project.

Straw Energy Feasibility Study

FUTURE FARMS

West Pine led an economic and environmental feasibility study into the use of waste crop residue for bioenergy production.

The project explored ‘at source’ biomass fuel production from a range of crop residues, focused on those that do not hold value for stock feed or would otherwise be burned in field.

Straw pellets were trialled in biomass boilers at hospitals in Beaufort and Skipton (Victoria).

Carbon Accounting + Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Report

CRADLE COAST AUTHORITY

West Pine was engaged to quantify and report Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This included engaging with 370 suppliers, which enabled external stakeholders to learn through active participation, and undertaking employee commuter and waste surveys.

Greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies identified in the report were implemented across the organisation, including the installation of two public electric vehicle chargers, enabling co-located organisations to upgrade their fleet and personal vehicles.
